A Message from Andy Hook on Our Firm’s Future

Newsletter | Apr 6, 2026 | Andrew H. “Andy” Hook

To Our Clients, Colleagues, and Community,

For fifty years, it has been the privilege of my professional life to practice law and to build what is today Hook Law. From the beginning, my goal has been to create a firm that would endure— One defined not only by its history, but by how carefully it prepares for the future. With that in mind, I am writing to share an important and positive leadership transition.

Effective July 1, I will step out of firm leadership and transition to an Of Counsel role. This date marks the conclusion of my fifth decade in active legal practice. After July 1, I will no longer represent or advise clients. Importantly, this transition will not affect the continuity of client service.

This leadership transition did not begin recently. More than a year ago, we began a deliberate and thoughtful process to ensure continuity for our clients and the long-term strength of the firm. During this time, other attorneys were systematically brought onto client files, working alongside me and other senior attorneys, with the express purpose of developing familiarity, relationships, and responsibility over time. As a result, clients should expect no disruption—only continuity, stability, and depth of service.

Our attorneys, staff, and practice teams remain fully in place, and all client matters will continue to be handled with the same care, responsiveness, and professionalism that have long defined Hook Law.

My role going forward will be focused exclusively on supporting the firm itself—serving as a mentor and advisor to its leadership and attorneys, sharing institutional knowledge, and helping ensure an orderly and seamless transition. Day-to-day client representation and operational decision-making will rest entirely with the firm’s leadership and practice teams.

I am pleased to announce that Tejal D. Desai will assume leadership of Hook Law.

This transition is the result of years of deliberate planning and represents, in my judgment, the best possible outcome for the long-term continuity and stability of the firm. I selected Tejal because I have complete confidence in his ability to lead Hook Law forward while maintaining the standards of excellence and client service upon which the firm was built.

Tejal and I have worked closely together for the past four years, and I have known him personally and professionally for more than a decade. During that time, I have seen firsthand his sound judgment, his command of complex legal and business matters, and his ability to lead teams effectively. He brings together deep legal skill, operational discipline, and strategic perspective— qualities that ensure not only continuity, but strength, consistency, and thoughtful growth.

Clients should expect business as usual at Hook Law. The firm’s practice structure, attorney teams, and commitment to responsiveness remain unchanged. Tejal has been deeply involved in the firm’s operations, leadership decisions, and long-term planning, and this transition does not represent a change in how we serve our clients—it represents the continuation of a model that has been carefully put in place.

Just as important, Tejal understands and embodies the firm’s core commitments: putting clients first, practicing with integrity, and providing clarity and confidence during some of life’s most consequential moments. I am confident that under his leadership, Hook Law will continue to deliver top-notch legal service while evolving thoughtfully to meet the needs of future generations.

Leadership transitions are most successful when they are orderly, transparent, and grounded in trust. This transition reflects all three. I am deeply proud of what we have built together and genuinely optimistic about the firm’s future.

Thank you to our clients, colleagues, referral partners, and community for the trust you have placed in Hook Law over the years. I look forward to supporting the firm in this next chapter and to watching it continue to thrive under Tejal’s leadership.

Of course, Tejal and I welcome any and all opportunities to meet with you to discuss any questions or concerns. However, rest assured, your matters managed by me have had a team of associates working on them to ensure continuity of service.

With gratitude and confidence,
Andy Hook
