Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Paralegals/Client Accountants may perform a broad range of duties across estate planning, trust administration and tax planning and preparation.

  • Meet with attorneys, clients, and advisors to manage matters
  • Draft and file legal documents including petitions, powers of attorney, deeds, motions, affidavits, and court forms
  • Research statutes, case law, and regulations; provide written summaries
  • Maintain detailed records of billable hours, case files, deadlines, and tasks
  • Communicate with beneficiaries, trustees, executors, and advisors
  • Draft and manage correspondence, accountings, inventories, settlement agreements, and tax forms
  • Prepare sub-trust allocations, distribution schedules, and calculate fiduciary and beneficiary distributions
  • Support tax filings (final individual returns, fiduciary returns) by compiling relevant documents
  • Research wills, trusts, creditor claims, and conservatorship issues
  • Draft and edit court petitions and related legal filings

Ideal Candidate

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Paralegal Certification, Financial Services/Tax Certifications or 5+ years of experience in these fields preferred
  • Experience in Estate Planning and Administration and/or Tax Planning and Preparation preferred

Compensation

Salary

Hook Law typically pays in the top quartile of its competition. Salary is negotiable; commensurate with experience.

Incentive Plan

Productivity based bonuses paid annually that can significantly enhance base pay
