Caitlin Walters is an estate planning attorney at Hook Law, where she helps families bring clarity and structure to their plans for the future. She guides clients through wills, complex trusts, and estate plans involving a wide range of property, focusing on helping each family find the approach that best fits its unique needs.
Caitlin joined Hook Law in 2026 after nearly fifteen years practicing family law. During that time, she practiced with two local family law firms, representing clients in private practice and serving as a Guardian ad litem. Her work often centered on contested custody cases involving complex issues such as relocation, substance abuse, and mental health concerns. That experience gives her a deep understanding of how legal decisions affect families during their most difficult seasons.
Caitlin is known as a thoughtful, meticulous, and approachable advocate. She takes the time to make sure her clients understand their options and can confidently navigate the many decisions involved in estate planning. She believes clients deserve representation from people who know the law and also care about them as individuals. She also recognizes that a valuable estate plan reaches well beyond the legal documents to reflect a family’s values and grow with it over time. Her favorite part of the job is empowering families to prepare for life’s challenges and developing creative solutions that allow them to build lasting legacies.
Family and faith are central to both Caitlin’s life and her practice. Her own path to parenthood, which ultimately included adoption, shapes the compassion and perspective she brings to every client relationship.
Caitlin and her husband, Lance, met when she was 16, and the high school sweethearts have been together ever since. They live in Virginia Beach with their son, their daughter, and their vizsla, August “Auggie.” Caitlin and Lance are active members of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, where they lead an adult life group and regularly lead worship, a tradition they began together as teenagers. Caitlin began singing in her church choir at age three and also plays the trumpet and piano. She is a devoted St. Louis Cardinals fan who rarely goes anywhere without her Kindle, and she enjoys swimming, traveling, spending time outdoors, and, above all, being with her family.
