Eric Smith

Eric Smith serves as Chief Financial Officer at Hook Law, bringing more than 20 years of experience leading finance, strategy, and operations for complex, high-growth organizations. He has a strong background in building institutional-grade financial infrastructure, supporting scalable growth, and aligning executive teams around disciplined forecasting and measurable financial outcomes.

Prior to joining Hook Law, Eric held senior leadership roles in investment management and public real estate, where he led finance, accounting, reporting, and governance functions across multi-entity organizations. His experience includes capital raising, investor and lender engagement, long-range planning, and board-level reporting, as well as oversight of legal, accounting, risk management, HR, and technology functions.

Eric has extensive experience working with institutional and private equity partners, managing diligence processes, and developing forecasting and reporting frameworks that support operational clarity and strategic decision-making. His background is particularly well suited to professional services organizations, with deep expertise in fiduciary controls, multi-entity reporting, cash flow management, and repeatable process design.

Eric was born in Charleston, grew up in Connecticut, and has resided in Hampton Roads for over 20 years. He has traveled to 22 countries and lived overseas. Eric has two daughters and enjoys exercising, pickleball, and listening to audiobooks on long walks.
