Mariah Walston joined Hook Law in July 2026, bringing a diverse background in legal support, client service, administration, hospitality, and technology. With experience as a Foreclosure Paralegal and Collections Legal Assistant, along with leadership experience in office operations and customer-focused environments, Mariah brings organization, adaptability, and a passion for helping others to her role as our Virginia Beach Receptionist.
As one of the first friendly faces clients meet at Hook Law, Mariah helps create a welcoming and positive experience from the first interaction. She assists with office management, administrative support, and daily operations while ensuring clients feel heard and supported. Her strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities allow her to provide dependable support to both clients and colleagues.
Before joining Hook Law, Mariah supported attorneys in foreclosure and collections law by preparing legal documents, managing case files, coordinating with courts, commissioners, lenders, and clients, and maintaining accuracy in fast-paced legal environments. She is also a commissioned Virginia Notary Public.
Mariah’s background extends beyond the legal field. While attending Old Dominion University, she served as a Front & Back Desk Manager at the Student Recreation Center, where she supported daily operations, coordinated schedules, and assisted students and visitors. She also gained valuable customer service and leadership experience through several years in hospitality as a Head Bartender and Fine Dining Server, as well as through an Information Technology internship that strengthened her technical skills and complemented her cybersecurity education.
Mariah earned her Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity from Old Dominion University with a minor in Communication. Her unique blend of legal, technical, and customer service experience allows her to approach challenges with confidence, creativity, and a solutions-focused mindset.
Originally from the Richmond area, Mariah moved to Hampton Roads to attend Old Dominion University and has proudly called the 757 home ever since. She resides with her fiancé and English Bulldog. Outside of work, Mariah enjoys reading, traveling to different states and countries, shopping, exploring local restaurants with family and friends, and unwinding with her favorite simulation game, The Sims. She enjoys experiencing new places, trying new things, and making time for the people and activities she loves most.
